.44 Caliber Henry Rimfire, Manufactured in 1866, 1860 Patent
The Henry Rifle was the precursor to the Winchester lever action series which basically settled the West along with the Colt Peacemaker. This is the early brass frame version which is one of the first models made by the fledgling New Haven Arms Company. Museum papers suggest that it saw use on the Goodnight Trail. This rifle was tagged #1 by the Museum and retains its original wood and all the fittings.
